Summer Wedding Style Tips for Guests

June 18, 2018 | Posted in Events, Trends, Uncategorized, Weddings

So, you’ve been invited to a wedding, but you have no idea what to wear. You’re not in the bridal party or apart of the wedding in any way, but you want to make sure that your wedding style is appropriate. It can be a bit tricky. You have to consider things like the theme, venue, dress code, and warm temperatures. Not to mention, you don’t want to upstage the bride, groom, or the wedding party. Fortunately, there are wedding style tips that can point you in the right direction. Check it out below:

Casual Weddings

If the ceremony you’ve been invited to is more laid back, you have a lot more wiggle room. Ladies, you might opt for a short, flowing sundress or a nice pant or shorts romper and strappy sandals.  Try to steer clear of colors worn by the bridal party. Guys, you too have options. A pair of slacks and a button-down shirt or shorts and a polo shirt with a pair of loafers would do just fine. Casual wedding style is most times the easiest to worry about.

Semi-Formal Weddings

Does the wedding invitation lead you to believe that the occasion is semi-formal? If so, women can work magic with maxi-dresses and a pair of pumps or strappy sandals. Gentlemen, on the other hand, should go with a summer suit and tie or perhaps a vest. The lighter materials will keep you from overheating, yet still holding on to that perfect semi-formal wedding style.

Formal Weddings

Formal summer weddings can sometimes be the trickiest to dress for. You have to be elegant enough to fit in with everyone, but you don’t want to dress too closely to the bridal party’s style. Guys, you can’t go wrong with a black suit and tie. However, summer is also a great time of year to try out grey or navy blue as well. Ladies, you’ll need to purchase a formal summer gown which is made from more luxurious materials than traditional summer or maxi dresses.

You’ve been invited to share in a special moment with someone you know and care about and you want to make sure you’re dressed for the occasion. These ideas should give you a great place to start, however, just keep in mind the idea is to be comfortable, match the occasion, and of course, don’t outdo the bride and groom. Start with the invitation from details and use your personal style and creativity to choose a summer wedding outfit that best suits you.
